The 35 new children who arrived at TFT International Preschool in January have settled in well and they were looking forward to their New Year holidays when we visited recently.
New Years Day is on 13th April and the celebrations last at least three weeks. Everything in Sri Lanka is celebrated including Poya Day (Full Moon) each month. It’s a true appreciation of the simple things in life.
Having also spent some time in different children’s institutions where we witnessed the deprivation and sadness of abandoned children it is heart-warming to feel the hope, joy and positivity for TFT Preschool children who have this wonderful opportunity to be cared for in such a happy environment while many of their parents work, and their gratitude to receive this chance of an education is truly overwhelming.
