A baby was abandoned on the doorstep of a family in Colombo. The family cared for the child as if she was their own and gave her a happy and carefree life.
After 3 ½ years the biological mother returned and complained to the police that the Foster Mother had kidnapped her child. The biological mother had no means to support the child, and as the foster family were unrelated, the judge automatically admitted the child to an orphanage. For seven days the child hardly ate or drank and couldn't stop crying and asking for the Foster Mother.
