Less than a month ago, Lynn visited our Yakkamula family and they were so happy to be together. They invited Lynn to their little house, but the sloping incline was so steep without steps or even a path, and she apologetically declined.
Three years ago, Santhu had made the agonising decision to leave her three children at Galle police station as she had no means to feed them. The police officer called Mr Percy and he called Lynn. She took her children home that day and since then we’ve supported them with school books and enough food supplies to sustain them. The cost is about £10 per week.
Today, their house is under water after the recent floods and they have lost their home and all their possessions.
Yesterday, thanks to a donation from Hampton Court House of £300 and takings of £229 we are on our way to helping them rebuild their lives.
